I also would not get rid of it. I am not sure what else you have in your collection, but that chair is major and you're not likely to find another one. You have nothing you'd swap out for? I'd bounce that Z Chair to make room for the Papa Bear any day of the week, but that's just me. Also, not everything needs to be matchy matchy you know. If it's a matter of money however, that chair should fetch a handsome price.
Ha!
Nice try, Spanky!
I know it's an icon and all, just doesn't quite do it for me though. In a different color maybe, but it'd be more than I want to pay to reupholster it and I have no idea who could attempt such a complicated piece locally.
And I *love* my Z chair. When I bought it cheap many years ago (before widespread Internet) I had no idea what it was. In fact, the seller had a matching one that I didn't buy due to space constraints. Boy, do I wish I had the matching one now!
LOL!!!
You guys just won't do! 🙂 You've all been so helpful with my questions, how about another one...
The upholstery has some sort of chalk looking marks one side and the back (as seen in the picture below). Any ideas on how to clean this? I've vacuumed it gently to get surface dust off, but the marks persist. Is this like a Tiffany lamp, where if I clean it the value instantly drops to half?!?
Thanks,
Eric
Not like a Tiffany lamp at all
Upholstered furniture often needs to be redone after years of age and use has taken its toll. And between the seat cushion and the other stains, it looks like yours will likely require reupholstery.
If you are selling it, I would not do anything and offer it as-is letting the new owner select the upholstery of their choice.
And if you are selling it, I would be interested in buying. Just let me know.
Heard back from PP Møbler
I emailed PP Møbler over the weekend and heard from their master craftsman yesterday. He said he believes it is an original Wegner chair made by AP Stolen and that the fabric appeared original. He said the seat cushion was not original to the chair.
Thanks,
Eric

Anyone every hear of this...
Anyone every hear of this "ambassador's" papa bear chair? Can't find any reference to it online.
Normally I wouldn't think twice about claim like this, but isn't Rago a fairly legit outfit?
Legit or not, it does look comfy. . .
