Exhibition Now Open
Last night I went to the exhibition opening
of Mid-Century Modern: Australian Furniture Design
and I am still in awe over the immense size and
diversity of designs on show. The place looked like
a furniture trade show from the 1950's.
There were pieces handcrafted from beautiful
timbers, exquisite textiles and chairs of many
different shapes and styles. The pieces in the
exhibition are from public and private collections,
so it was great to get an opportunity to see so
many iconic designs in one place.
I am passionate about furniture design from around
the world, but it was wonderful to get a local
perspective on what was happening on the design
scene during the post-war period in Australia.
For those who are interested I have put a link
below to a gallery of photos taken at the exhibition
last night.

Mid-Century Modern in Review.
For those interested in Australian Mid-Century Modern
furniture design it's worth reading Fiona Gruber's excellent
and well researched review of the exhibition which appeared
in The Guardian newspaper.
Enjoy.
Cheers,
Tick.
