Hi. I bought an Artemide floor lamp today at the Salvation Army for $7 CDN. When I plugged it, I realized it doesn't work. The dimmer seems to be broken. I contacted Artemide, but they are not sure I can get the original part. They offer to have a new dimmer installed, however I am not sure how it is going to look. Should I go for it or should I try to find a used dimmer that will work? The estimation for a new dimmer is between $100 and $150. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!

You can repair this easily
Come on it is an inexpensive purchase, live a little.
Go to a hardware store buy a couple or three meters of 14 gauge lamp cord and rewire the lamp yourself. Use an external dimmer like the Lutron which plugs into the outlet and the lamp plug piggybacks into the dimmer.
Total cost about $20 and an hour of your time.
