This has to be one of my favorite threads ever and it's great to see everyone's paintings and share in what has been a truly fascinating discussion about art and it's valuable role in our lives. So pleased that the Walter Benjamin essay was enjoyed too.
Does anyone here paint or draw themselves. I have wanted to take up painting for years and I think the time has come to take the plunge. Next month I am doing a workshop in woodfire pottery. We are going to build a kiln and make pots to put in it. Getting back to nature.

Some of mine below, I collect modern British, mainly from William Gear, Michael Canney, Roy Turner Durrant although the collection is pretty diverse (and too large!). Please excuse the quality of some of the images.

My Art Wall
Two Frank Barrys and the rest are unknown or unsigned. I need to frame the Betty Parsons (I WISH!) in the upper right.

Such talent on this forum.
Very nice, heavymetal! And when I stash enough cash aside, I want one of Adam Fowler's creations for my new home. I must get the crib organized first...that will take a few months, or longer.
Best,
Aunt Mark

diors: I love your wall. Both wall pieces AND 3-d works... wall so well composed.
Heavymetalsculputre : Nice to get to see the (large) scale of your work. Scale makes such a huge difference. To me, many of your works NEED the scale to make sense. Nice work! Thanks.
I must say that almost all of the fine arts examples are very much improved this time around!

That means a lot to me. BY the way I've always been a fan of your contributions to the forum!
I also agree with you on the James Turrell at the Guggenheim.
And you too Woodywood!
