Greetings Design Droolers!

I have searched all of my resources from the past 2 days and have not been able to find any information on these chairs. They are marked "Made in Denmark W 13" on all of the cross members underneath. The backs are adjustable using the leather straps that you can see in the pictures. I'm going to refinish them, but was hoping to learn something about them before I get started.

Thanks in advance!
Mike

.
Does anyone know if that method of springing the seat was exclusive to Danish chairs ? Passed on two chairs the other day with the same loops of plastic coated steel.
I do not need more chairs, I do not need more chairs , I do not need more chairs...

The vinyl coated springs were used around the world. You'll find them on high-end pieces and budget ones. Same for the rubber "webbing" straps.

thanks, they were a bit clunky anyway and a joint had been 'repaired' with screws which is just an insult to injury.
Sometimes I wonder if I'm collecting furniture or firewood.

i agree with your firewood or furniture sentiment. I've got a garage full of furniture in various stages of refinishing and sometimes I want to just throw my hands up.

I've pretty much stopped buying, can't expect friends and family to help me out with storage anymore, thinking of getting rid of nearly all of it and buying an Eames aluminium highback and ending my furniture buying days forever.

Your chairs LOOK like they were made France & Sons, but I don't know the designer (they had many that worked for them). I've had several france and sons chairs that had some of the same exact construction details. Sometimes they will branded on the wood - the marks are easy to miss.
