My collection is growing way bigger than I have space for. I'd love to sell off a few items to make a little money so I can get some space AND have the funds to buy more (it's a vicious, vicious cycle).

There isn't much of a market for MCM where I live which is how I've been as successful as I have with finding some fun, affordable pieces. I'm a casual ebayer, both buying and selling, but nothing like this. I'm intimidated by the fact that I would be shipping pieces of FURNITURE. I don't even know where to start.

Is eBay a good choice? Are there better avenues? How do I begin with shipping?

Thank you for your help!

I have only shipped about 10...
I have only shipped about 10 large items.
Custom Freight.
I have used a local company called Pakmail.com.
I send them a picture and dimensions via email, they provide a price to crate it and ship it in the US.
It is EXPENSIVE. A large coffee table or sofa will cost about $500 so it has to be an exceptional item.
Greyhound Xpress is super cheap and easy. They will NOT pack it or even be nice to it. You can estimate it online by entering weight and dimensions. Some recommend wrapping it in saran wrap. I sent a sofa this way but had to box the cushions in another shipment due to weight limit. Total cost about $140. Only issue is that you need to drop of at a Greyhound terminal AND the buyer needs to pick up at another.
uship.com
This site is FANTASTIC. Just enter what you want to ship. Upload a photo. Enter a pickup and delivery time and wait a couple hours for sever quotes.
I had quoted shipping 10 chrome chairs across the state.
First quote was large shipper at $550. Second quote was individual for $195. It is a deal to get 10 chairs hand delivered from door to door for $195 with today's gas prices.
One note. When paying for shipping, it might be a good idea to have the buyer call in and pay via CC. This way, they are responsible if anything gets damaged in shipping. They officially bought the service and own the insurance policy.
You need not be involved in a claim.

If you're in the US,
and you want to ship uncrated furniture (blanket wrap), then a great option is Plycon. I used them twice and they were terrific.

Thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to answer!
Especially you, Paso, for being so thorough.
Is eBay my best bet? Or is there some better website with classifieds?

Simply Put
eBay has more traffic, so more potential buyers, than any other website.
That said, sales are subject to fluctuation and variation depending on the weather/ market/ season/ what's on TV...
