Speaking of weird Aalto-like stools
Mine are marked Thonet, but certainly looks like they're either Aalto or Aalto inspired.
Very good quality.

Thonet
Thonet often found...'inspiration' in the designs of others.

The Alvar Aalto - Designer...
The Alvar Aalto - Designer book just says that wheels came off 'around the mid 1940s". I do know that the furniture Aalto designed for the dorms at MIT was made at Hedemora in Sweden rather than Finland (not enough wood) or the USA - so maybe the partnership was over for sure by 1947. Pascoe continued to make very Aalto-esque furniture (often with tapered legs)well into the 50s and they acted as distributor for Bruno Mathsson
