**Updated post**
Hello-
This weekend I picked up a set of 4 Moller #71 chairs- all in great condition except for the fact that some misguided soul had sloppily painted the upholstery on 2 of the chairs, getting a little paint on the wood, too.
I'm a novice, but I'd like to give the wood some love. At first I thought the patchy spots (seen best in the picture of the legs I included) were caused by rubbed away finish, but thanks to helpful hints on this forum, it seems they are more likely just dry patches that need nourishment. Before I treat the wood with any Teak or Danish oil, I need to clean off residual grime and the paint splatters. Can anyone tell me the most effective yet gentle way to tackle this project? I appreciate any help! Thank you!

Spanky will possibly have some advice to offer for cleaning the surfaces of the wood if there is any grime from handling over the years, but I doubt that stripping or sanding the chairs is going to be suggested here. They just look a bit dry in spots, and after a cleaning can probably be brought back to life with an application of Danish Oil.
