I guess no one was in a hurry it only took 50 years to change the Iconic ,670 lounge chair. I really think it is cool looking ahd they did a nice job looks like something that was designed yesterday than 50 years ago,and has a lot of class to it,
Vitra just introduced it and it has shiny aluminum base and shiny aluminum back and comes in light wood and white leather. and they say other kinds of wood,
of course i do not think that this chair is offered in America but it is great looking , look at that base way different than Herman millers,

1957/58 Herman Mill...
1957/58 Herman Miller, USA, transfers rights to Vitra to produce and distribute furniture designed by Charles & Ray Eames and George Nelson for Europe.
I found this on the vitra website on the UK section something i never looked at I still find this deal between Herman Miller and Vitra somewhat odd but hey who am I,
It is just here in America our Herman miller is such a Icon not just as a furniture company but a leading U S company that has won every award out there for being a great company to work for and a company that treats their people well, I always wonder why they never controlled Europe, and gave it to Vitra sure did make things confusing don't you think?
also from the website it states Now in collaboration with the Eames Office and Hella Jongerius, Vitra presents a lighter, brighter reinterpretation of that 20th-century classic. Everything is balanced and minutely detailed: from the zippers, to the spacers and the gliders. The upholstery is off-white leather framed by varnished walnut veneer shells and set off by a polished aluminium base. The new version both reinterprets the Lounge Chair's classic look and reasserts its timeless status as a centrepiece of modern interiors.

hille and icf were making that base for 670s since almost day one ('58?). i think vitra came in later on the 670. there is a nice hille/herman miller version on retro sixtys website. check it out.
