I picked up these string chairs for $5 a piece at the thrift! Not quite the Alan Gould string chairs of my dreams, but I'll take em 🙂

So I imagine these are new, and nothing (so to speak). On the off chance that they do have some pedigree and somebody could recognize them, I thought I'd post them here. So...does anyone recognize them?

The string, which is actually rubber, has a few spots of discolorization on one of the chairs. Anyone have any experience dealing with something like this? I tried some of that Novis plastic cleaner, and it did nothing.

I have a gould string chair...
I have a gould string chair and my advice is only buy one if you plan on not using it, they are beautiful chairs, works of art in a sense but you won't sit on it.

Thanks for the lead,...
Thanks for the lead, eamesjunkie 🙂 I browsed a bunch of Lamb's work, and there is a lot of similar stuff. This seems to be new production, so I'm thinking it wouldn't be him - but thanks for the tip!
And thanks for the advice re: Gould's string chairs, killian. They ARE gorgeous, but ultimately I prefer things that I can also use. Hopefully at some point i'll be able to track one of these down and actually sit in it! I fully expect to be marked like a grill when I stand up.

Sitting wise the Gould chair...
Sitting wise the Gould chair is comfortable but its more whats in your mind, you never fully relax as you think you are going to wreck it....well in my case Im 15 stone so I don't like to sit there for too long......it is however a beautiful chair and certainly a lovely thing to look at.

Belotti
They appear to be a knock off of Belotti's "spaghetti" chair for Alias. I have had both these and the Alias ones before. I have not seen any labels on the ones like yours that I have had.

Italian?
Walter Lamb's stuff is much more elegant and robust. These look like they have the same frame as the DWR Giulietta chair.

Wow! I was, honestly, not really expecting to get an attribution. The frame looks exactly like that DWR one though! Very interesting 🙂 I'll have to do some research and see if they ever did it in string, rather than leather. Thanks for sharing your knowledge here everyone.
And I'm glad to hear the Gould chairs are comfortable! I'll put them back on my wish list 🙂
