I was on my way to work and picked up this chair (pretty darn heavy one too!) for free. It has a the maker's tag on the bottom and after looking them up online I found they are still in business, making office furniture. The delivery date is February, 1972. I was wondering who the designer was and after a couple tries at contacting the company faile, I thought I'd post a picture in the forum here and see if anyone recognized the work.
Company: "Westin-Nielsen Corporation - Saint Paul Minnesota - Los Angeles California" There was also a sticker labeling this as property of the University of Minnesota. They must have thrown it out or something..
(I realize this may just be a run-of-the-mill office chair, - I just thought it would look neat in my apartment. It was free, so this is just out of curiosity.)

I kind of like it, actually...
I kind of like it, actually - even though it is a Saarinen knock-off of sorts. Unless the photos are joking me, the proportions seem generous and comfy. I actually like the base better than the Knoll chair for office use ... I like how it is perked up lightly above the ground. The base reminds me of the earlier "flat" Eames aluminum group variation.

This chair is very comfortable and the padding is nice and soft. I am still trying to figure out if it swivels or not. I don't understand the hardware on the base and plan on getting some WD40 to loosen it up a bit. If it does in fact swivel, I will be in heaven!
