Restoration update
Sorry about the delay in my reply Stewy - obsolete email address - had to create new user. Your chair looks great - are you in Sydney? Any chance to swap notes on restoration of chairs? I started the restoration - cleaned up alloy and fasteners. Bought some new fasteners in stainless. Found a cabinet maker / restorer to repair the shells - ready tomorrow - exciting. Cushions - I haven't made a decision yet - I cleaned them up to see if they could be saved, but they are mostly so badly damaged that the end result would be pointless. So I'm thinking to have some made up from an old sofa I have - black leather. A leather seamstress is willing to do the work if I supply the materials for $20 per cushion. If I take that course then the restoration will come in at about $400. Your council (sydney?) find was probably the sister chair from the one i have. I'd guess that's where mine came from as well by its state. Interesting your chair chair is numbered 5. I recon this is a clue to them being purchased together as mine is 3. How can I contact you to discuss?
Best regards
John
