Hi -

I have a Risom Armchair that was purchased in 1952 by the original owner for their estate. I want to get a sitting stool for this piece, but I am having a terrible time finding any vintage sitting stools. I believe that buying a new stool would be bad because the patina would not match that of the old chair.

I also am concerned that my chair might be birch or beech (or could be aged maple?). Is there some sort of reference that I could use to tell what my chair was made of? Perhaps an old brochure online. I know now all they offer is Maple or Walnut. The childs collecton is made from beech.

So my question is does anyone know what wood type would it be from the age, and 2 - do any of you know of a vintage stool through a dealer or website? I've been looking for over 6 months now since I got the chair.

Thanks in advance.

getting answers
When in doubt the best place to start is at the beginning. Contact Knoll directly at their corporate headquarters and speak with the archivist. They will have the answers regarding the wood and you will not have to deal with second guessing and random opinions. As for locating a vintage stool, good things come to those who wait. Best of luck!
