A friend is in the process of liquidating his Aunt's estate. The attached side table is part of a matching bedroom set that are labeled with "John Stuart" and "Facade". Does anyone recognize the design and if anyone of note (Widdicomb) designed this for John Stuart?
Thank you for the read and your help in advance.
Thank you
Juanearl. I did about an hour of research online before posting and understand that John Stuart was a retailer; although they seem to have commissioned some furniture companies to manufacture pieces specifically for them. I also read that the namesake worked for Widdicomb at one point. Thanks again for taking the time to reply. - john

I believe that John Stuart also designed furniture in-house. I remember seeing a old advertisement online that featured john stuart and a few others listed as designers.(Not 100%) Either way, you are right, most of his furniture was retail, resale, resold....whatever.
Unless its danish, or particularly unique, you wont fetch high end prices. More in the realm of heywood wakefield, lane, and other american mcm designers.
In my opinion, this was made in the USA. From there, you'd have to sift through hundreds of vintage catalogs of various grand rapids furniture makers. I think most of the John Stuart American stuff came from Michigan.
This could all be incorrect of course.
Edit: Never mind, I think this was the ad i was thinking of.
