There are chairs that look a lot like Arne Vodder chairs with swiveling backrests, but they are not. They are the accompanying chairs for this table. It is all teak and stained elm. I

No they are not. Thanks Leif! That's helpful although further deepens the mystery 😉 There was that company in NYC where the guy had his own "designs" made in Denmark... maybe it's from there? I'll go down to my studio in the morning and check: we have a set of chairs that are Johannes Andersen copies. Although... the construction on this table is really American.

OK, I got two sets of chairs mixed up. The JA copies I'm talking about are labeled B. Altman, the department store. But they are kind of in the same realm... not-quite-right copies of Danish designs.

Look at that table construction, though. So American.

This table and the matching not Arne Vodder chairs are 100% American.

Hi Leif,

Yes, I know that. That's exactly what I said. I never said they had anything to do with Vodder: you brought that up and I just said it deepened the mystery and wondered who was copying Danish designs here in the US like that... sorry for any confusion.

I appreciate the clue about the matching chairs and will continue to dig for answers. By the way, the table does have an elm skirt/apron.
