These chairs are solid Walnut. I'm thinking American and not Baughman, but I've never seen them before now. The back and seat slide, slightly, to adjust into a reclined position. But not really. They'd be a lot nicer if they didn't have that feature. They're pretty decently constructed, although these need to be repaired in a lot of places. I don't know if the ottomans are a match... doesn't really seem like it. Thank you.

Are you sure they're walnut? They look like something else with a stain.

I have seen that kind of reclining mechanism on Danish chairs--not that it's proof that yours are Danish because I think they're quite American looking, just saying it's not all that weird.
The ottoman frames look like they match the chair frames in color and style so I'd guess they are a matched set.
I don't know if the upholstery is a redo--maybe? I think the set would look 100% better with less thick seat & ottoman cushions, 3 smaller buttons in the chair backs instead of 2, and tidier welt and seams. And maybe a fabric that compliments the wood better.
No idea who made 'em---sorry! I've never seen these either.
For sure on the Walnut... although the ottoman legs, which are attached by cheap brackets, are Elm toned to match. Might replace them with Walnut... might not. Planning on threaded inserts once I re-glue the frames, anyway.
I think the reclining mechanism is weird because it hardly changes the seating position... feels very pointless.
Totally agree about the upholstery. The seat is attached, and sprung... maybe my upholsterer can do something different, although that probably means a taller back cushion (was hoping to save what was in there).
