Hi all,
Just purchased these shelves. I first thought they must be Cado or maybe PS but now that I have them, I am really unsure...
The supports are solid teak, shelves are thick veneer over particle board. What is interesting is that is that they are very well finished with rounded solid wood on the edges (sorry I have no idea how you call that in English). No marking whatsoever. I believe Cado have Denmark or Made in Denmark on the supports. Oh and there is a third shelf that I did not mount yet.
Thanks a lot!

hi dr p,
can't help with the design/maker of your shelves but i have the cado wall units you are referring to and can confirm (as you'll see in the attached pics) that the shelves are indeed stamped 'made in denmark' on the back.
i'm based in switzerland and have seen similar shelves to the ones you have here. the ones i have seen normally have the metal support rod going through the shelf with a fixation on the underside. not sure if that is the case with your unit but that definitely isn't the case with the cado shelves (again, see pics :).
finally, you can't see in the pics attached, but the veneer on the cado units is onto wood, not particle board (at least not on the shelves that i have).
sorry i can't help more,
cheers,
bb
p.s. loved the pics of your house i saw on a thread some time ago and always enjoy your informed comments on the site !
Dr.P,
Gustav Bahus produced a free standing wall unit which has shelves with the same profile as yours. ( image below from a 1st. Dibs listing.)
The Bahus uprights are different....but it is possible your shelves have been married with the cado style wall batons.
Just a suggestion and as Leif has said, without case pieces it will be hard to pin down.

Lexi

nice catch lexi,
however it seems that the nosing on the good doctor's shelves doesn't have the same profile as the ones attributed to bahus (which are really nice btw. i love the uprights and the metal rod that threads across the back of the shelves).
leif - very interested to hear you say that they are 'too well built' for cado. my instinctive feeling was that the use of particle board and not wood, and the fact that the metal rod goes inelegantly through the shelf (without any of the style that is present in lexi's example) would make these shelves far inferior in terms of design. they seem to me to be a less elegant knock-off of the cado shelves.
or am i mistaking construction for design ?
cheers,
bb
Thanks all! Yes indeed it seems that this kind of shelves were produced by a number of makers (Cado, PS, H&G, Bruskbo, Bahus, etc.) which makes ID a bit complicated.
Like billyboy I thought that Cado had the paternity of the design and others were just copies/heavy inspiration. I have learned something 🙂
