Wondering if you know this chair? I think it is probably American?
Does anyone know a good source for American mid Century modern furniture? Would appreciate any help!
There are details in this chair that are not quite pointing to an American made chair (just an observation) such as the super exaggerated form and splay of the legs, the sharp bend of the back with some kind of joinery (if real) and those brass (?) tips/feet do not look like an off the shelf part but specific to the tapering legs of this design, also the frame, it is thick where it is needed then tapers almost to a point.
If this is an American made chair, it was probably not as mass produced as a typical example. I would like to say Italian but not 100% sure.
I am not quite sure how to respond to your last question, I source my stuff where nobody else look.
Now that you mentioned Canada, this could be an example of mid century modern Canadian design with Scandinavian influence.
The underside of the chair frame how the seat is attached could also provide some clues of its origin, like for example, the use of corner diagonal wood blocks to attach the seat with wood screws is usually an American made mass produced chair.
