Niels Otto Moller Chair #77 Wood Identification  

@fallonac It is rosewood, that's what I can say. Maybe @cdsilva has more detailed information on how to recognize the exact species or which species were used.

 Striking grain, and not one that I would associate with Moller. If forced to guess without any closeup photos, I would say curly mahogany or padauk. I don't believe Moller offered either of those woods for normal retail, but they could have made some custom wood versions. It could also end up being a piece of teak that happened to have very unorthodox graining.

Thanks for your responses! Yes - this grain is very unorthodox for teak but with my limited knowledge, I was leaning more teak than rosewood. The seller believes it to be rosewood but I am not so sure anymore. I am posting some further images here. These chairs also do have a stamp, but I'm not exactly sure what decade to place them in. I'm not sure if that would help in identification either.
