Hi all. I recently purchased a pair of Wassily chairs which were brought to South Africa by a German couple in the sixties. The chairs were already old at the time.
They were later gifted to the person I bought them from. The leather was in a sorry state, so he had the leather redone using the original templates. The frames have not been restored.
The unusual thing is that these seat and backrest have tension springs on the reverse sides and the armrests are secured by screws with end caps.
The chairs have flat end caps on the tubes and the frame is held together with small black screws/bolts.
Has anyone seen something similar?
