I've recently come across a very striking table that I've spent weeks trying to identify to no avail. It's electroplated chrome or aluminum, NOT solid brass (which I totally expected when I picked it up.) The glass however is VERY thick. The size is unusual as well, leaning more towards end table or cocktail table. There are no makers marks anywhere. I've had a few designer friends suggest Karl Springer or Baughman, but I haven't found anything close. My best guess is perhaps an Italian modernist designer.
I've never seen a piece of furniture as "confrontational" before, but this causes a very visceral reaction to all who see it. It's absolutely stunning and reminds me of Louise Bourgeois's Maman sculpture. I would very much appreciate any thoughts you all may have!
Thank you!
