Hello all, I was hoping for some guidance! I have been looking to buy a pair of Finn Juhl spade chairs and have agreed on a pair. However, they are completely unlabelled according to the seller. Has anyone ever encountered this before? France and Son were quite good at labelling their pieces from what I can see through research. Does anyone have any insights into original spade chairs being unlabelled or were they produced by others as well? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you @cdsilva, you may be right! I appreciate your input. I have been absent from posting here for quite a while however I regularly have a late night scroll to keep up to date! They are beautiful chairs and usually I wouldn’t be making such a big purchase sight unseen but they are in a different country. I also am not familiar with the chair so I was afraid it could have been produced as a copy of the original.
I’ve never owned one of these, but the photos look correct. I believe this design is knockdown with the same keyhole joints as other F&D chairs, so if you are unable to view firsthand before buying, ask the seller to send detail photos of the keyhole joints. I assume the chair will be disassembled anyway for shipping.
There is a heavily inspired design made by Pastoe, which has nothing to do with Finn Juhl, despite the claims of numerous dealers.
@cdsilva thank you for your advice, I bought them as they have a solid returns policy. I will update when I receive them!
