Hi all,

A friend of mine purchased a home from an extremely wealthy couple.

They had many easily identifiable pieces, Vladimir Kagen Dining set, Hans Wegner Wishbone chairs, Knoll chairs, Selig Viscount chairs.

Amongst the others were these mystery pieces which may be italian, danish, or wherever.

All are in amazing condition and all vintage except for maybe the blue chair with wire base.

Any help identifying these would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Any photos of the Kagan dining set?

Nice. Here is the same model from a Wright 2010 auction lot:

I'll see if I can find a model number for it in my Kagan book tonight.

I'd also be interested in seeing an underside photo of the seat. In the Wright photo, the back part of the seat has a nice floating appearance. And its effect is enhanced as there is no rear seat rail or stretcher for bracing.

Oh great! Thanks for that. I'm really interested in the other unmarked chairs if you have any ideas!

Best,

Hmmmm . . . with these new photos, the framing is clearly different than the Wright chairs. The gap between stile and back edge of framing for seat support is larger for the Wright chairs than these ones, creating more of a visual cantilever for the former. There may also be other more subtle differences, but difficult to tell without good photos of the Wright chairs.

There appears to be a label in front in one photo. What does it say? Perhaps Kagan modified the framing of this design over the years, or perhaps they were made by different companies: Kagan-Dreyfuss for one, and a licensed authorized producer for the other.

They are Vladimir Kagan Couture. From 2008 with a price tag of $28,800.

The dining chair design is not included in my Kagan book. If it was bought new in 2008, then it would've been through Ralph Pucci, so they might be able to assist with model #. Besides the 2010 Wright listing, I was unable to find another example online.

For the other chairs, here are my thoughts:

- one resembles the DAF chair by George Nelson. I know very little about Nelson, but would be surprised if the connection goes beyond "resembles"

- two chairs look like Overman designs

- googling "Italian club chair brass legs" might turn up something.

Thanks for looking into all of that.

I'll contact Ralph Pucci and let you know about the dining chairs if you are interested.
