I picked up this pair recently. The previous owner told me that they had been shipped over to the UK from South Africa by a relocating relative. I don't know if they were produced in SA originally, or elsewhere (and shipped to SA). I'm in the process of messaging a furniture dealer in SA, but thought I'd post here as well.
@stjamm. A former, very knowledgeable, member on the Forum (he hasn't posted in a long time) "nitsuj" is a furniture dealer in SA. Here is a link to his homepage. He might be able to help you.

Quick update. I contacted two furniture dealers in SA, one of whom was nitsuj. The other dealer wasn't 100% sure on an ID but said the chairs could be made of Kiaat - a wood species typically used in SA. However, nitsuj is confident that they aren't a SA design or even "typically mid Century South African".
So who knows eh! I'm beginning to think that they might be eastern European.
@stjamm. Thank you for the update. Good luck with the search.
Sorry for late reply, but was house sitting and cat minding for my daughter in a part of the countryside with really poor signal. Didn't even bother to bring my laptop.
My only company was the cat, nesting swallows, buzzards , wild pheasant and lots of trees with great views over the countryside.
Nice to switch off now and then!
