Hey there! I found this lil cocktail sized solid teak table. I assume the shelf was stained black at some point unless it was the original design? Anyone recognize this one? I’m stumped.
Thanks for any help!

"Kidney", "Freeform", "Biomorphic", "Boomerang"? I can't find it, although I was surprised by the number of close-but-not-quite that pop up. That is a nice one, though, for sure. The lower shelf does feel a bit afterthought-like, but nothing I can see would give it away as added later. Expert-level craftsmanship on display here. Unsure if the film finish (varnish?) is original, but gorgeous solid teak top and versatile size make it a keeper in my book. Good find. Best of luck with maker ID and thx for sharing!

Thanks for the reply! I went down the rabbit hole of those descriptors as well, close but no cigar! The finish is definitely not original, a bad attempt at some point in its life with a couple repairs here and there as well. I wonder if the shelf itself was a replacement for an original one only because it doesn’t quite feel like the aesthetic/quality of the rest of the table. I guess if another pops up I’ll have a better idea 😄 Looking forward to getting looking better and putting it into the living room rotation.

Yes, the longer I look at it the less the shelf fits. The straight edges and lack of shaped edge treatment in addition to the black, I guess. Plywood would certainly not garner points in favor of originality, either, imo.

I could see a scaled-down version of the top there, though.

Appears a simple matter to remove the shelf (and brackets) to see how that would work in the meantime. Another easy interim step might be to rub out the finish with #0000 steel wool to knock down some sheen for a more oil-like look.
