Cheers again guys

I think I'll re-cane them, it looks a fairly simple weave having slowly disassembled them to work out the proses with short lengths and no joins, all side to side single wrap.

I really do appreciate your knowledge on this but please don think that all newcomers to design-addict are Muppets with no idea about restoration. If we are all going to blow our own trumpets I've got a bit of experience with Scandi furniture restoration and Danish cord as-swell.

Thanks again for all your help.

Very nice work!

So I guess when you said you were thinking about doing paper cord, it wasn't because the thought of working with cane was daunting. Great!

Beautiful spade chair. Is that fabric original?

Yeah, you gotta re-do the cane on a set like this.

By the way, nice work and nice collection! I am kinda amazed that all those pieces made it down to NZ, i mean there was what, a couple million living in NZ back in the 50s?

Also, don't take offense at the general tenor here, previous respondents were just playing the odds.

Apologies as its been a while but I've been a bit busy, so as a follow up to previous post above. The nice lady that I purchased the dining suite from originally sent a message - was I interested in a chair similar she had in storage (which tuned out to be a big farm shed). and it turned out to be the arm chair version of dining chairs, I think its # 113. This one was in bad condition so have just finished fully restoring and re-caning exactly as it was originally done.

I believe there is a joint in the backrest, and I believe this makes it an early version of the chair. Looks great.
