Table lamp (?) id  

To my eyes, it looks like a swag lamp with added feet. Can you add some pics of the socket and cord? It also looks like a new piece from photos.

and thanks for the reply. i'll try uploading more pics but the site has been a bit funny with adding pics to threads lately so not sure it will work ... well, here goes nothing !

the cord is clearly not original as it's much too thick, and i'm not sure the socket is original either.

i suspect that you are right and that it's a new piece.
