Hello,
I don't suppose anybody recognises this little drinks box on castors? The lady who owned it bought a lot of items from Heals but I cant find anything online when searching.
Thanks in advance!
How about a phot of the underside?
Rosewood and white oak is a very rare combination. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it before. Finn Juhl often used mixed woods in the late 40s and early 1950s. He always paired oak with teak probably because the both have similarly coarse grain. And he always paired beech with rosewood, again probably because they have tighter grain. But after say 1954 mixed woods became much less common. This box absolutely looks like it is from after though.
I didn’t assume somebody veneered the top. I just thought somebody might have reused a piece from a broken or thrown out rosewood cabinet or table and upgraded the box with it. But in this case I guess the top would be a bit thicker.
