Hi
I am hoping someone can help me identify this chair - recently found in a secondhand shop in Belgium.
Unfortunately I cant find any stamps/marks but, to me, it looks Danish. Is Danish furniture always marked ?
Any help would be very much appreciated
Thanks
Paul

Hi,
It certainly looks danish / scandinavian and no, not all danish furniture were marked.
However, the seat springs do not look danish at all. If it is not a later repair (it doesn't look like it is), I would say not danish but scandinavian style from somewhere in western europe...
If you happen to remember which French manufacturer, I am super interrested! I know of a connection between Kofod Larsen and G-Plan but nothing with a French maker...
Last time I saw this kind of springs was on a Parker Knoll (UK) chair that looked a lot like it could have been designed by Ole Wanscher. That might be something to explore...
Hi Paul,
The specie of wood (I think Aformosia) and the plain/straightforward connection between parts (for instance in the corner of the wraparound armrests) suggest to me the chair was made in Belgium.
Both indicators pop up with a lot of furniture that was locally made here in Belgium, but heavily inspired by scandinavian examples and often lacking the real intrinsic build quality danish furniture often shows.
I know of a German manufacturer that is linked to Kofod Larsen (Fr̦scher), but if that's true..
In Holland there was Bovenkamp (from Hilversum) wich produced designs by Bender-Larsen, to a quite good degree of quality.
