I got this lamp a few years back but it seems to be missing a shade so I don't know what it's supposed to look like but someone told me it's by Lightolier and designed by Gerald Thurston. Anyone?

Cool I will google him. Do you think it's Lightolier?

If it's Bergström, then it's not Lightolier. But no idea.

Wright Auctions has had a few of these and listed them all as Gerald Thurston for Lightolier.  I'd assume the glass shades were the original and were broken on the first pair.  Here's their website if you want more details:

Thanks so much Mark! I guess whoever told me it was Lightolier and Thurston was correct. It's probably next to possible to find the original glass shade.

Yes, will be next to impossible to find one of those original glass shades.  You can measure the diameter of the metal ring that holds the shade and start checking your local Habitat Restore (or Urban Ore - one of my favorite spots in the Bay Area)for other shades that might work.  Or look online for chimney shades like the one pictured here from Antiquelampsupply.  Or talk to a local glass blower and see if you can get something custom made.
