Hi all,
I'm wondering if you can help me identify some absolutely beautiful dining chairs I've bought. 2 with arms, 4 without. The shape reminded me of Illum Wikkelso and I started googling. I found one listing on first dibs, below foraa prototype plexus armchair, that was never put into production. But that is the only image or reference that I've been able to find and of course it always might be wrong. Have any of you seen these before. They clearly are special. I got them together with a John Mortensen table. Thanks for any light you might be able to shed!
Joe
Found a couple more on Pinterest. First was posted by what appears to be a former Danish dealer called ReModern. The description that accompanied it said: "Set of eight chairs in rosewood. Model Plexus by Illum Wikkelsø. Manufactured by C.F. Christensen, Denmark. The second photo was posted by an individual with the note: "llum Wikkelsø "Plexus", C.F. Christensen, Denmark, 1965. Neither offered more info nor photos of marks. ReModern has a .dk website with an email and phone# so you could try contacting him. And the chairs you linked to were posted by a Dutch dealer called Bloomberry in Maastricht, so you might try contacting them as well.
Hi @Mark737 - Yep, looks like it made it at least a bit beyond a prototype! Thanks so much for the additional sleuthing. I'll drop ReModern a line like you suggest to see if he knows anything more. The shape of them is very much like the better known plexus lounge furniture so hopefully they are illum wikkelso anyway. Thanks again, Joe
We did a deep dive on the CJ Rosengaarden attributions in this thread. Consensus was they were only a table slide supplier.
