Hello friends

A couple of days ago you helped me to identify an Aldo Londi cat for Bitossi. Now I ask for your help again.

In the search for references of the cat, I found several pictures of Aldo Londi minimalistic birds, under the collection Arkitectura, that were similar to one that I had forgotten in a shelve.

Here it is. The bird has a sticker with Flavia brand, no Bitossi, and another sticker that says Made in Italy.

Can yo help me to identify it?.

The ceramic has two holes on the base. Were them to place it on a rod stand?

Thanks again

Juan Carlos

I don't know for sure if it's real, but here are my thoughts anyway.

It was made to sit on a table, not to be put on wire legs. The ones on legs did not have flat bottoms. The two holes are to let air circulate on the inside of the piece during the drying phase, before going into the kiln. (If you put wet or damp clay in the kiln, it will crack.)

The two labels look a bit odd in that one looks much more discolored and worn than the other, but maybe the paper quality was not as good. Doesn't necessarily mean than the Flavia label is fake and was added later.

The S marks look legitimate as do the eye and the general shape. In looking at other Londi white birds, it seems that most had a little added color but there were some that were all white.

I couldn't find any photos of very round birds that showed the shape of the tail.

I say it could be a real Londi bird but I'm only going on what I see here and on the internet. I'm not an expert at ALL about Londi or Bitossi in general. Hopefully someone else who knows more will chime in.

(reposting your photos in correct orientation just for convenience, plus one showing the rounded bottoms of birds with leg)

Thank you for your comment Spanki.

I have found a re-edition Bitossi bird with a shape like mine in this architonic page

https://www.architonic.com/en/product/bitossi-ceramiche-arkitectura-314/...

As you can see it is atributed to Aldo Londi and shows just the same form, including tail, in a different pattern.

Any idea about age? and why it is tagged as Flavia? Was Flavia a kind of sister Company of Bitossi?

and you found an explanation in Italian, which shows that you know how to use the search engine far better than average.

I am a novice Adlo Londi admirer, and can't offer anything other than I really like that bird. so clean.

Nah, I just happen to use Chrome, which is Google's browser, and it offers website translation. Comes in handy sometimes.
