What do you all think? No makers marks except the number 2 and 5. Slotted screws. Chairs have hex bolts and anchors. Legs seem thicker than originals. Any idea who would have copied this design? I don’t think it’s Winchendon. I’m missing a chair and coming to the realization that because this isn’t an original it is going to be near impossible to find a fourth...
Looks like inspector stamp imprints to me. Have you looked for marked Frem examples to compare details and see if there are the same inspector stamps?
Frem used DFC stickers, which could have fallen off (been removed) over time. I'm not sure if knockoff manufacturers went through the trouble of inspectors or stamps for them.
@cdsilva, Were these ever produced or knocked off in Asia? I only ask because the closeup photo looks more like rubber wood to me than the beech or birch one would expect to find on plywood seat panels made anywhere near Denmark.
I've never owned any of the HO Roundette or Dinette chairs, but have owned a few Poul Volther chairs, also made by Frem. Those chair seats had a variety of substrates, include MDF. Here is one with a Frem stamp and a DFC sticker.
It's possible there are some SE Asian knockoffs (or licensed production). I'm still not sure if I've seen inspector stamps on items like those though.
