Hi...my wife and I just purchased a number of items from an estate sale and were hoping to know more about them. My understanding is the items were purchased as a collection in Cophenhagen in 1961. They have a France and Son label but other than that I don't know much about them.

Any help is appreciated in identifying the designer or names of the pieces.

Thanks

The only item designed by Juhl in your collection is the Footstool. The armchair is a France & Son production designed by Ole Wanscher. Simple web searches will yield further information.

I am also looking to identify the bed you pictured as I have a variation on this design.

Nice items nonetheless.

Howard, do you know who produced/designed the two-tier side table with magazine rack?

I spotted the same piece (but without rack) in an on-line auction, just this week.

Thanks for everyones help so far. I am picking up everything today and will post better or clearer photos if I can.

Here is the side table with magazine rack.

I wasn't able to exactly pinpoint the chair, bed, or sofa yet.

All of the items were purchased in Copenhagen from a place called Paul Dynason. I believe all the pieces are France and Son.

Thank you for the clarification. My friend's father is in his early 90's so passed on what he remembered from nearly 60 years ago.

You nailed it with the name as a simple google search produced this image which is the exact sofa.

Alf Svensson is the designer. It is called Series Lyon. It is Swedish. Made by Dux.

When the images start working again, I will upload a catalog page for the side table with magazine rack. It is indeed an

Thanks Leif for the contribution. I'll check with the auction house if there's a magazine rack laying about somewhere 🙂

I've always had a soft spot for Jason Mobler, but hadn't imagined this to be made by them.

Leif,

So here is what I know so far thanks to you, the others, and a little bit of googling.

I have:

Three ottoman/footstools by France and Son's by Finn Juhl

One 4 seat sofa done by Povl Dinesen and designed by Folke Ohlsson

One Magazine Rack side table by

For the sofa Povl Dinesen was the retailer. Dux was the maker. (It sounds like Povl Dinesen was the retail for all of this stuff. He specialized in selling to American military personnel).

We have the same bed in a twin size. It is shown in a vintage Povl Dinesen catalog here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/impulsenine/16166941747/in/album-721576500...

Very frustratingly, the designer is not noted. At first we assumed that meant it was a Povl Dinesen design, however in other places in the catalog it notes when that is the case. So we still do not know who designed it.

We love our twin size, but really wish it was larger for our guest room... or that we had a pair...do you have any interest in selling yours?

Stacey
