Most teak casegoods are veneered. Teak was too precious to use whole (?) when veneer would give the same look. You will find it on lots of dining tables, too. Legs are usually solid, though. If a piece has edge banding on the end grain of what you are hoping is a solid plank of teak, it's veneered.
You don't have any photos of your desk but I'm guessing it was original since you say the one you spotted online was identical in all respects to yours.
Veneer isn't automatically the sign of cheap knockoff furniture!
