I recently found what I'm hoping is an original Eames RAR rocking chair an I'm hoping to get some help in confirming its authenticity.
It came from an old abandoned house that was full of old damaged/buried MCM furniture.
Here are some basics:
-The only marking I can find is an "N" on the shock mounts
-There is a very old looking sticker that says "lot number 2316 item number 177" (auction?)
-Exposed fiberglass fibers
-Semi translucent
-Light yellow in color
-Non rope edges
-Base was lightly rusted
-Runners had soft spots and damage
Here is what I've done to restore it to usable condition:
-Two mounting screws were missing so I replaced them all with a different (hex) style
-Refinished the runners
-Refinished the rusted base
-Replaced the hardware on the runners
Any ideas as to the origin of this chair or its authenticity?

It looks legit to me except for maybe the part about being translucent---seems to be more translucent than the ones I've seen. But I'm definitely not an expert on these so take that with a very big grain of salt.

There are probably other threads here that are could help. The search engine for the forum is kinda dicey--better to just do a google search with the words Design Addict.
There was a guy here who posted regularly about Eames shell chairs and knew quite a bit but he's been mostly absent for quite awhile. We need a bat signal for him, except with a Herman Miller logo.
