Hi my beloved experts!
I am interested in buying an eames lounge chair, but i have to admit i have not much knowledge. the chair is not signed at all, and as well not in best condition.
Do you have a hint or checklist how i could make sure it is not a knock off?
i tried to google it but the tips were more random than i thought like "check the eames plate"...
best wishes, and some pictures attached and thanks for your help.
@kaimaitai, It appears to me to be an authentic vintage ES670 licensed to one of the one of the the European manufacturers, possibly Vitra. U.S.-made Herman Miller chairs had different style bases.
If you aren't already aware, vintage examples of these should be carefully inspected for failing "shock mounts" (4 rubber pieces that join the arms, back and seat panels that dry out, harden, and eventually crumble over time). Replacing these and/or cushions can be quite pricey (some might even say "exorbitant") and may influence your decision or offer.
