I have purchased a set of six beautiful Danish teak chairs. They were made by K. S. in Denmark. Unfortunately, my search for similar chairs did not yield any really comparable hits. But maybe someone here knows more about the chairs.

There isn’t all that much to know about this chair. It has a maker’s mark, so it was—presumably in the 1970s—produced by Korup Stolefabrik. Korup made some well-known models, but this chair isn’t one of them. It doesn’t appear in the Korup catalog I have. However, there is a similar “family” of chairs; I’ve included a photo of one below.
Who designed these chairs is unknown—at least, there are no definitive attributions. According to the Danish Furniture Index, there’s one source that attributes two of the chairs from Korup’s lineup to Henry Kjærnulf. If Kjærnulf really was the designer—and that’s not unlikely, since Korup was located not far from where he lived—it’s possible he designed the entire collection.
In smaller furniture factories like Korup, it was common to either have in-house designers or to hire an external designer to create the entire product line.
Henry Kjærnulf died in 1975. The catalog is definitely from the 1970s, though it isn’t dated. It’s possible that your chair was added later and designed by someone else, using earlier models as a basis. But that’s all speculation—and for a chair like this, it doesn’t really matter all that much.
It’s a nice piece of mass-market furniture—not particularly high-end in terms of design or production—but still made by one of the better-known manufacturers in the Danish industrial furniture sector.
