I got this chest along with three other pieces that are made in Denmark.

The details of the drawers are a little different from the one designed by Arne Vodder.

Possibly Niels Clausen?  One seller on 1stdibs is selling this exact chest as Niels Clausen for NC Mobler.  I sent a message and asked the seller if he/she is sure about the id, they said they are not exactly sure.

Any idea?

I saw a couple of listings that appear to be the same chest,  both attributing to Henrik Casse c, 1960, but showing no marks or references.  One of the listings describes Casse as "a little known furniture cabinet maker and designer in the Danish showroom, Den Permanente."  Somewhere to start anyway.

@yuki-french0117gmail-com Definitely not Niels Clausen. The proportions are different, the construction is much more sturdy, and NC pieces are consistently marked. I will look into Henrik Casse.

@andersen, do you mean the proportions of the depth of the drawers?

@Andersen is saying that the proportions are odd. This chest lacks the elegance of a Vodder/Sibast or NC chest. @mark737 Henrik Casse was not a cabinetmaker, he was an architect. I found him in an old phone book where he was listed as architect but not as cabinetmaker. Thus it’s highly unlikely that he made the furniture himself. So the chest must have been made by some other Copenhagen based cabinetmaker (if it was sold at Den Permanente at all).

It looks like an inspired chest of drawers made by some skilled carpeter. and I agree: the proportions are odd. This chest lacks the elegance of a Vodder/Sibast or NC chest. cheers

@herringbone Henrik Casse was an architect, it does look like it was made by a professional cabinetmaker.

@andersen It is lacking lacking the elegance of a Vodder design, I agree, but I still like it.

Thank you for your help! and info.

Oh yes, it probably was made by a professional cabinetmaker. I just doubt that it was Henrik Casse who made it. He probably only drew it.

@herringbone, my previous reply might sound odd (sorry, English is my second language, and not perfect), I understood that Henrik Casse was an architect, designed and drew it, and asked to a professional cabinetmaker to make it 🙂  I appreciate your information!  Thank you!
