I just picked this up off facebook marketplace, I originally just assumed mcm, but couldn’t find anything like it. Then I opened the bottom and found straw/coconut fibres. So I’m now thinking Art Deco? I can’t seem to find any info online and I’m sure I’m using all the wrong words to search. It’s a recliner and very simple. Only two hinges and two rollers. No maker markings of any kind that I can see.
The frame is reminiscent of Milo Baughman designs for James Inc. and Thayer Coggin from the 50's. Here's one with a lot of detail photos for reference.
This old thread might also be helpful. Includes some catalog pictures from @leif-ericson . Maybe Leif can check his catalog and see if it includes your chair.

Exactly, "Gelsenkirchener Barock" is a derogatory term for furniture that cannot be assigned to any design era and looks very petty-bourgeois, mostly produced and "highly appreciated" in Germany from the 1930s to 1950s.
Originally your chair was also high-gloss.
Thanks for the links, that arm shape is very similar!
Mind seems to be much older with the very basic reclining set up and the fibre filling, I'm hoping for more clues when I get the full fabric off.
Thanks!
haha cool, yeah I'm not expecting this to be like a pricey heirloom, just trying to find out more about it. It seems super old with the stuffing and super basic recliner set up.
