I follow these guys elsewhere... Disappointing.

I'd like to say that otherwise they seem pretty legit. Just a shame that this large lapse of judgement occurred, that's really not how one should operate business.

I apologize for not replying sooner, the holidays have been busy and we've been dealing with a furnace that stopped working in some very cold weather...

The listings for the FJ repro chair were as cdsilva stated. As he noted, my original listing included the Air India reference. I actually sold the chair via my own website in August to a Canadian buyer who was well aware of the provenance. After almost a month of shipping / customs issues having developed we agreed to cancel the transaction. I refunded his money and I quickly relisted it on a number of websites. This is where I made the error of writing a rushed abridged version. We were replacing our roof at the time and I failed to rewrite a full description - a mistake I will not make again.

My buyer on Ebay, did however ask about provenance before purchasing and I explained. I accepted a best offer in keeping with the Treadway/Toomey estimate, not the full buy it now price. The chair was delivered and my buyer was vey pleased.

I hope this helps to explain things a bit better. As I have said, I am very aware of the omission in the later listing and how it looks. I can only say that I will strive for consistency in my professionalism from now on.

Re:Papa Bear

There are staples on the brown Papa bear remaining from upholstery that was put directly over the original. I had hoped for the entire original layer to be intact but the back piece and outer arm sections were missing. The original tacks still hold the existing pieces to the frame. There are staples and glue remains from a cover piece that was installed over the seat webbing. I have the original fiber filling from behind the back piece (it is a strange dry grass-like material)

Thanks for answering the questions when there was no obligation to do so.

Just curious, why was the chair listing archive removed from your website?

cdsilva: After I read your comment here I reread my archived listing and although it included structural differences between the chair and the actual FJ design it didn't state clearly enough that it was a reproduction. I was angry at myself and embarrassed so I removed the listing.

Thanks again for the follow up answer. The easier route would have been to just ignore my posts.

And, rather than ignore my own, I must once again offer a sincere apology to someone I don't even know.

Well done, TrystCraft.

Call me a cynic, but I would rather like to hear from the buyer of the chair that it was fully disclosed by Trystcraft that Trystcraft knew the chair is, with complete certainty, an unauthorized reproduction.

I don't think it's cynical to be aware that the thing you're chewing on tastes bad. You know your apples.

Hello,
