And thank you Aunt Mark, when I saw it in person there was no way I was leaving it behind! It has its imperfections but I'll embrace them! I wasn't supposed to see if til Friday but I saw on a Facebook page a local dealer was saying they may have a red corona chair in stock tomorrow, so I panicked and went today.

Ok so here are some photos! The leather seat isn't in the best nick, the owner was rather portly which may explain part of it....the other being it was bought for a fancy office reception about 13 years ago. It's solid and no frame damage I can see or feel. The label underneath has a date on it, 24-08-01? I don't think I paid too much for what it is but was definitely out of my comfort zone!

Glad to hear it is structurally sound!
You should probably research removing the rust from the stainless steel. Existing rust on stainless promotes more rust. Not that it is going to fall apart tomorrow, but it is a nice chair that deserves the extra mile. I certainly do not feel that rust on stainless qualifies as desirable "patina".
And the leathe ripples look much diminished in your photos. I think the leather looks perfect actually. A touch of wear on leather, as long as it is structurally sound is my idea of perfect.
Erik Jørgensen is still around. You might ask them what the code underneath means.
Aside from the number that does look strikingly like a date, I would have thought the chair is older based on the wear and the fabric tag.

I agree about the leather wear Leif, it's just the right suppleness! The chair is shockingly comfy, I'm definitely going to try get rid of the rust, not my idea of patina!
I've emailed Erik Jørgensen to see if they can shed some light on the stamp underneath. Hopefully I'll hear back from them at some stage. The solidness of the chair and sheer weight of it shocked me!

So I got a response from Erik Jørgensen already! Confirmed it as an original Corona, the leather is a custom order which is not one they stock, it was specially selected by the buyer. Really surprised they got back to me so fast. The numbers underneath are the date of order processing and order number!
