A beautiful garage sale find, 2 "Thonet" arm chairs and four side chairs. I've only seen the style once, on 1st dibs, listed at 8 grand! There is no Thonet tag on any of them, but rather a paper, Made in Italy, tag. I find nothing on the internet indicating that Thonet ever manufactured in Italy, but before replacing the cane (because it needs it on a few) with upholstered seats and backs, I wanted to make sure.
ended sale
this doesn't exactly help, only indicates a manufacture in Italy of Thonet style

bolts and ebay tag
Thank you both for your prompt responses. The bolts are square and the "made in Italy" tag is identical the the example on the e-bay link. I don't know whether to sell them, as is, or refinish and upholster (I don't cane). They are so beautiful and have such an oriental feel to them. I want to keep them, but can't give up my Chinese Chippendale. I paid $200.00 for all six, but don't know how to price them, since it appears that they are likely in the manner of, rather than Thonet. I've read that unusual pieces (like these) can be priced "comparably" with Thonet, but since the only comparison I have are the outrageous prices on 1stdibs, I don't know where to start.
