I've recently been investigating a maker/designer of my lounge chair before I bring it in for new upholstery. I've found a couple online shops selling it as Ib Kofod Larsen but haven't found any source for that attribution.

It looks sort of plausible. But you are absolutely right to be skeptical of unsourced attributions. And this one is particularly untrustworthy, because there isn't even a maker attributed.
There are also dozens of other designers who could plausibly have designed the chair.
I don't think you are going to discover who designed it very quickly, but I would spend the extra money to get it done very well because it is a nice chair. If you don't, and discover in a year or five that it is a moderately famous designer you are going to wish you had done it right and want to do it again and that will cost a lot more.
