I bought three different birds by this same potter, all in the Baltimore area but from different sources over a period of 5-6 years.

They're approximately life-sized and made of brown and red clay with earthy glazes. The eyes on each are exactly the same---charcoal brown glaze with a hint of metallic in it.

I only have pics of two of them. They're all signed with "AD" written as one unit. I've looked up every possible group of tags for these and haven't been able to find a thing.

I love them, love how they look with my 50s Danish mod furnishings, and would really like to know who made them and when (and how many others there may be!).

Anyone got a clue?

Beautiful!
I grew up in that area. I'll forward to my Dad.

found 'em
Thanks, rockland. I posted on the Ebay pottery board about it and someone gave me a link to the pottery studio that still makes these. It's Anderson Design in Maine. The studio has been around since 1952.
So far the only thing I like that they make are these birds. Most of their things are rather conventional looking.

Sandpipers
I'll be buying a few from the studio. The Sandpipers were a '60s pop folk band.
