The current fabric does not ruin the chair. The complementary colors and the pattern do add plenty of interest though. I know that neutral solid "performance" fabrics and boucle/hopsak/etc. are popular around here (for obvious reasons) but pattern is not necessarily the enemy, and too much "good taste" leads to unhealthily sterilized environments. I say they're period-appropriate (etc.) as they are, and definitely not uncool.

I have no problem with colors and patterns, but this fabric reminds me of a picnic table.
