Dining Table with Chairs ID & Reupholster Question

Hi all,I recently acquired this table and chairs from a fellow who said it was his family's dinner table dating back to the 1950s. I believe him. There are no manufacturer markings to be found--can anybody guess a designer? I did some googling and found the following set that looks similar in blonde: https://www.flickr.com/photos/aqua-velvet/8293471654/Of course, they didn't ID theirs, either.Also, each of the chairs is a bit rickety. They just feel creaky and old, and I'd rather not be worried about the integrity of my seat when I sit to eat my Cheerios. So I took one to an excellent reupholstery and repair shop, who have quoted me $700 for a full re-glue, reinforce, and reupholster. Is that a fair price? Would you do it?

Bump. Estimate has been adjusted to $500. I guess I don't want to pay more than I can expect to get back in a few years if I decide to sell.

I do not know how to reupholster stuff but these sort of look like all you have to do is remove the seat and current fabric and just rewrap with your new fabric and staple underneath. Perhaps I will be corrected shortly. If so, just try one on your own and see how it comes out. You can reglue these joints yourself. Just go to HomeDepot and pick up a bunch of clamps (return them when you are done.....yeah I said it...they take everything back). There are YouTube videos to help show you how if you need them ("tighten loose dining chairs" or "reglue legs on dining chair" etc).

jdip, that's about right for the upholstery part. I would just add that new foam might be needed (1" thick high density). And do it neatly.

I believe if you posted your dining set on craigslist, you would be very fortunate to get $500 for it. Therefore, putting $500 worth of work into it would not benefit you in your quest to sell it in the future and break even, assuming that you didn't acquire the set for free. Therefore, I recommended putting $0 into it after you asked if it was worth it. If you didn't state your intent to sell in the future, I wouldn't have replied. Sorry that you were offended.
