Yesterday as I was rummaging through my local thrift store , I came across this very well made and crafted credenza - I think it is light walnut or it could be teak with sculpted pull handles made of possibly red Mahogany or could be rosewood - they have a red color tone to them. Any clue as the manufacturer or the designer,. BTY, inside cabinets and the drawers are as refined as the outside surface. Many thanks in advance for your input.

It is a bleached/blonde mahogany which turns mellow overtime. Not knowing where you are but if you are in California (Los Angeles), I will say one of the designs by Brown Saltman (with a question mark until examined and researched more closely) but Brown Saltmans usually has a decal label inside one of the top drawers and will be stamped in the back with the manufacturer name and model number. It could also be just a generic but well made example of late 40's early 50's blond furniture and if it cost less or the same as IKEA furniture and it suits your needs why not just get it regardless of pedigree.
Thank you minimoma and Peruche for finally solving the puzzle for me - with my search with Google there is nothing that would point to the links you have provided - thanks again. Regarding the wood, is the pull handles are same as the body of the credenza - mahogany? Again as I have indicated in my initial posting, for whatever the reason this is solidly built with great deal of craftsmanship inside and out that I have ever seldom seen in mid century furniture. Unless I have missed it, there are no marking as who is the designer - is it logical to assume that with this kind of quality, manufacturers usually designate a designer to the piece.?

It looks like I was 500 miles away from the correct answer for you. I thought for sure that the credenza that you were asking about was made by Old Hickory Martinsville, Indiana. I took a few minutes today to double check and it looks like I was wrong. Here is what I came up with:
Hickory Manufacturing Company located in Hickory, North Carolina.
And you were correct in your thinking that it is indeed Mahogany. The pictures of the labels were taken from the piece of furniture in the pictures posted. The credenzas in the pictures are for sale and I can give you a contact number for them if you are interested.
