Thank you "niceguy" for the advice, I do have the book "1000 Chairs" and did not see this in it. The other books I do not have and that is the reason I appeal to our niche design community for help and also add to the accumulated information data base on this site for future references regarding this piece. Thanks again,
You are welcome and correct.
Future acquisition of the aforementioned Taschen Decorative Arts series will be the greatest help in "knowing more general information than the other guy". They helped me widen my design perspective and knowledge. I found the large amounts of detailed individual descriptions and photos invaluable.
I believe knowledge = money = power in the most altruistic capitalistic fashion. Best of luck in your search and your future collection.
so no one has a clue yet
my first thought was Troy Sunshade but these legs are different... the continuous form of the leg-arm-base and the rigid precision of it is pretty hot
re: TXXXXXX - I picked up the Decorative Art 50s on the cheap and found it pretty lacking, vague/dry/stale.
I wouldn't say it's not worthwhile (if it's cheap), but it's a bit disappointing.
Tend to agree with you on the Decorative Arts books---I looked through them a few times when i first got them but haven't cracked 'em open since, really. I think what I liked best about them were the photos of glass and ceramics and textiles that are just nice art in and of themselves.
Regarding the chair---who is that guy who designed furniture with tubular steel frames and kind of chunky upholstered seats in the 40s or 50s...his name was something like Willy Mc-Something? I could be way off on that. I've been trying to think of it ever since i saw the OP's photo but it's just not there.
Hey Guys,
You can use image search in google or just copy paste below URL in your browser.

The google image search turned up a lot of red chairs!
The closest thing I could find is this Thonet chair from the 30s, but then after looking at a ton of Thonet chairs from that era I did not see a variation like the one above. Even with a search of the word stahlrohrmobel ("tubular steel furniture") it didn't show up though I confess I didn't look through all bazillion search results. Stahlruhlstuhl didn't help either, but again, I didn't look at all the results.
