Hi everyone,

I have a set of 6 chairs that I’m considering having restored, but I’m wondering if it’s really worth it. Possibly Danish design, mid-60s? (No maker’s mark).
Does anyone have an idea of their value or any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

@ibbe First of all, please upload a picture—the file must be smaller than 2MB.

Secondly, in most cases, it’s not really a question of value. If your chairs are truly valuable—which may or may not be the case—then professional restoration could become quite expensive, especially if you’re not planning to do any of the work yourself.

If, however, your chairs are more typical, industrially produced Danish teak models, it really comes down to whether you like them. After all, you’re restoring them for your own enjoyment and to have them in your home. The restoration might end up costing more than a new set of chairs, but you wouldn’t be getting these chairs—if you know what I mean.

Of course, much also depends on their current condition, which is impossible to judge without a photo.

If your goal is to resell them for a profit, that’s a different story. In that case, it would probably make more sense to do the restoration work yourself to keep costs down.

But again—please upload a picture!

Sorry, I didn’t realize the maximum file size was 2MB.
Thank you for taking the time to respond. And indeed, it’s not purely about the value.
I really like the set, and there are six of them. We've been using them for about ten years now.
But now that I'm considering buying different ones and possibly selling these, I’d like to get an estimate.

More than anything, though, I’m curious about the origin of these chairs.
Thanks so much for thinking along with me, and have a lovely day!

@ibbe Somehow the pic or pics don‘t show. Make sure they are smaller than 2MB and we‘ll see what we can do.
